SWIM TEAM - MEET VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:
Home Meet Set-up and Break-Down
- Move deck furniture, set up tents, hang signage and prepare the pool area for the meet (see maps as a guide).
- The pool should be ready for competition 30 minutes prior to the start of warm-ups.
- During Home NVSL Saturday meets the pool is closed to members for the duration of the meet
- Developmental Monday meets use the competition pool. The training pool remains open to members
- Time required: Before a meet/After a meet.

Marshals
- Keep walkways clear, help with directional flow of swimmers, maintain quiet for race start.
- Time required: Swimmer warmups through the last race
Runners
- Deliver time-cards from each of the 6 lanes to the data table
- Time required: Duration of meet
Clerk of Course
- Position the swimmers, physically lining in heat and lane order. Divide swimmers into heats, if necessary to keep meet running without delay
- 8 & Under Clerk and 9-10 Butterfly:
- Align swimmers for each heat on the spots by the diving boards
- Walk swimmers to the numbered lane cubes when it’s time for their race
- 9 & Over Clerk:
- Seat swimmers in chairs behind the appropriate lane
- Upon start of each race, move the next heat up a row

Relay Take-Off Judges
- Watch the incoming swimmer touch the wall and departing swimmer leave the pool deck to ensure no swimmer leaves before the wall is touched
- Time required: Second half of A meets (except for Relay Carnival)
Timers (3 per lane)
- A time from each stopwatch will be recorded on the swimmer’s card:
- The middle time is selected as the final time unless there is a “double” (2 identical times) or “triple”. Doubles and triples supersede all
- One timer verifies each swimmer's name before each race
- One timer records all three stopwatch times on the swimmer cards
- One timer manually updates the lane's timing boards.
- The Chief Timer will review all procedures prior to the start of each meet.

Chief Timer
- In charge of all timing and recording results for each race.
- Chief Timer maintains the timer box with supplies/equipment
- Each lane needs: 3 small clipboards, 3 stop watches, pencils
- Verify the appropriate time is circled, remind all timers to “Clear your watches”, start a stopwatch for each race.
- If a lane timer's stopwatch misfires, substitute watches with the lane timer mid-race

Table Workers:
Sort timecards, verify times, prepare ribbons. These are the core administrative functions of the meet. Work closely with the Data Coordinators from both teams to manage all the information coming in from each event. Table workers include:
- Place recorders (1 per team) – raise discrepancies in timecards with the Table Chief and Chief Timer, record disqualifications (DQs), determine the order of finish for each race and write it on the timecards, check for any team or NVSL records and mark the timecard appropriately.
- Verifiers (1 per team) – verify swimmer names, times, place or DQ status. Note any new NVSL or team record on the printed verification sheet for the Announcer
- Award Clerks (1 per team) – label ribbons for each event
- Table Chief (1 per meet) – set up the table area, manage the supply box, manage table workers throughout the meet. Record timecard issues and validate information is properly recorded

Announcer
- Announces event number and stroke, swimmer lanes, event results and team scores at the Saturday morning meets.
- Set up the sound system prior to the meet, review and update script
- Time required: Duration of meet
Concessions & Meet Supplies (2-3 peole)
- Set up tables, coolers, and food, drink, and other items for sale
- Manage cash box and credit card payments
- Breakdown at meet's conclusion
